The Salvage at Sea Volume II - A ship master's guide was developed by the Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA) and Tsavliris Salvage (International) Ltd. in June 1996. The purpose of this guide is to offer the ship master a check list to which he might refer in the event of his ship suffering a casualty or getting into a casualty situation. It is written in an effort to assist him to minimize the consequences of a casualty. This Guide may also be of assistance to ship masters and others in drawing attention to the matters which may be of immediate concern following a casualty. It is hoped that this guide might not only encourage ship masters to further consider courses of action they may take following a casualty, but that it will encourage preplanning for responses which may be considered, planned and adopted.
